A ThanaDoula is...
...One who serves the Living. ...whom are also, the Dying.
Originating from Greek mythological terms:
Thanatos means death, and Doula means servant.
A ThanaDoula is present to serve and support people at the latter stages of Life, more specifically for those whom are elderly, ill, deemed palliative, and/or actively dying.
As a ThanaDoula, I work within a Family Systems Theory ideology, meaning, I recognize there is a central person that is being cared for, the One who is ill, and/or dying. I recognize that this person may have a community, friends and family surrounding them, that play a significant role in each other's lives, and thus they need support TOO. This whole community/family system's health can strengthen the central individual's care, and their lasting legacy for all.
The ThanaDoula role is one that 'fills-in-the-blanks' of Care.
I fit into your life by complimenting the care you are already receiving, be it medical health Care, family members, or community members.
A ThanaDoula consensually enters into folks lives, to comfort, listen, nurture, support, feel, breathe, and BE with all whom are involved in the central person's Life.
My goal in being your ThanaDoula, is to nurture and support YOUR envisioned goal.
I am very open and flexible to your needs.
I am a compassionate, genuine and down-to-earth woman.
I can do many bits and pieces. It depends on You, and Me, and Here, and Now.
